The Barcelona Wine Week, held from February 3 to 5, 2025, solidified its position as one of the most significant events in the global wine sector. In its fifth edition, the fair not only exceeded expectations but also broke historical records in various aspects, including the number of participating wineries, the space occupied, and the number of attendees. With a total of 1,266 exhibitors, the fair saw an impressive 33% increase compared to the previous edition. This notable growth reflects the fair’s consolidation as a key event in the global wine scene.
The space occupied at the event also expanded significantly, reaching 10,000 square meters, a 38% increase from the previous edition. This increase in space highlighted the growing demand for participation in an event that is not only a showcase for wineries but also a central hub for industry professionals. The fair welcomed more than 24,000 wine professionals, 20% of whom were international, underscoring the global growth of the fair and its appeal to foreign markets.
Céline Pérez, the event director, emphasized the importance of this edition, which marked a turning point as it occupied, for the first time, two halls at the Fira de Barcelona venue in Montjuïc, specifically Palaces 1 and 8. This highlights the scale of the fair and its capacity to attract an increasing number of exhibitors and visitors each year.
Among the most prominent regions in terms of presence, La Rioja stood out with 102 exhibitors, reaffirming its status as one of Spain’s leading wine-producing regions. Additionally, the centenary celebration of the Denomination of Origin Calificada (DOCA) Rioja added a special touch to the fair, celebrating one of the country’s most iconic wine regions.
A key aspect of the Barcelona Wine Week was the participation of 770 influential international buyers, who attended the fair in search of new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations. This high level of interest from international buyers reflects the growing importance of the fair as a strategic meeting point for wine professionals from around the world. Undoubtedly, the Barcelona Wine Week continues to strengthen its status as a must-attend event for the global wine industry, promoting the products of participating wineries and fostering new commercial connections that transcend borders.
Zinio Bodegas’ Participation in the Barcelona Wine Week
In this dynamic context, Zinio Bodegas participated in the Barcelona Wine Week 2025 through the Wine Tasting Journey, a self-guided tasting space that allowed visitors to enjoy over 80 wines selected by a committee of experts. This year, the central theme was “Old Vines, Historical Heritage,” and Zinio Bodegas had the honor of offering the opportunity to taste its Terroir de Zinio Reserva 2019.
This wine is part of an exclusive project on 72 hectares of vineyard within the total 400 hectares of the winery. It is made with varieties such as Tempranillo, and the yield of the vineyards is low, ranging from 3,500 to 6,000 kilograms per hectare, ensuring grapes of the highest quality. The manual harvest and meticulous selection of the best plots based on criteria such as age, health, and grape flavor ensure that the Terroir de Zinio Reserva 2019 offers a unique experience.
The Terroir de Zinio Reserva 2019 reflects the winery’s commitment to tradition, quality, and sustainability, consolidating Zinio Bodegas’ position in the global market.
Beyond the Stand: Strengthening Commercial Ties
In addition to welcoming both national and international visitors at its stand, Zinio Bodegas actively participated in various strategic meetings throughout the fair, aiming to strengthen commercial ties and foster new partnerships. These types of encounters are crucial for further advancing the winery’s presence in key markets and solidifying its position in the industry. The fair offered an opportunity to consolidate relationships with key international buyers and promote Zinio Bodegas’ vision as a winery committed to quality, tradition, and the future of wine.
A Commitment to the Future of Wine
Zinio Bodegas’ participation in the Barcelona Wine Week 2025 is just one example of its ongoing effort to offer exceptional wines that not only preserve viticultural heritage but also represent the future of the winery in the competitive international market.
